Pulsar can design, source and supply the following battery chemistries, alongside our wide range of battery chargers.
Lead Acid Inexpensive and simple to manufacture. Mature, reliable and well-understood technology - when used correctly, lead-acid is durable and provides dependable service. The self-discharge is among the lowest of rechargeable battery systems. Applications include UPS`S (uninterruptable power supply) and systems that require a lot of power such as starting a car engine and where weight is not an issue and for applications where energy needs to be stored for long periods. |
Lithium-Ion This technology has become the modern choice for many applications due to the high energy density and low weight. They are available in cells of all shapes and sizes making them the best option for a diverse range of applications including UPS Systems, mobile equipment, mobility and energy storage systems. The main disadvantages are that the batteries are expensive, the cells fragile and requires a protection circuit to maintain safe operation. |
NiMH The advantages of NmiH batteries are that they are robust, durable and have a flat discharge curve and low internal resistance. NimH batteries are environmentally friendly, do not contain cadmium or lead and can be almost 100% recycled. NimH Batteries are best suited to applications were there is a high energy consumption and demand including many types of portable instruments and equipment replacing conventional alkaline batteries. |
Lithium ferrous phosphate (LiFePo4) Considered the safest type of Lithium batteries as the chemical composition does not allow the cells to overheat, even if damaged will not catch alight. LiFePo4 batteries are non-toxic, non-contaminating and contain no rare earth metals, making them an environmentally conscious choice. With oxygen being bonded tightly to the molecule, there is no danger of the battery erupting into flames. There is around a 15% reduction in capacity compared to Lithium Ion batteries however the LiFeP04 Batteries will last for thousands of charge/discharge cycles versus hundreds of cycles for li-ion. |
